The Planning and Development Department has two primary functions for the City of Alliance - economic development and community development. The staff consists of professionals who have received the necessary training and education to implement programs and evaluate their outcomes. This department is committed to assisting its clients with their economic and community development needs.
Economic Development
This department is responsible for the administration of programs that assist companies in meeting their growth or relocation needs. The City of Alliance is part of a team that has made business development a priority for our community.
Our partners include the private sector, the State of Ohio, several regional economic development organizations, county agencies, and education institutions. For details’ concerning the City of Alliance’s economic development programs, see the Economic Development page.

Community Development
The Community Development is responsible for administrating Alliance’s Community Development Block Grant program (CDBG). Alliance is the recipient of CDBG funds on an annual basis and expends those funds in conformance with a consolidated plan submitted to HUD.
City programs that are funded annually with CDBG funds include Housing Rehabilitation and Code Enforcement. Alliance also grants funds to eligible applicants for projects that meet federal guidelines. For more information regarding the Community Development program, see the Community Development page.
